Welcome to the Ratel Home: A Wildly Elegant Retreat

If Marloth Park is magic, then The Ratel Home is where that magic wraps you in luxury while keeping your feet grounded in the earth. This stunning property is nestled right inside the Marloth Park Conservancy, meaning the “backyard” isn’t really a backyard—it’s a piece of protected wilderness where zebras, kudu, warthogs, and giraffes wander freely.

You don’t visit nature here. You live inside it.

From up here, I can watch animals pass through, catch the golden light at dusk, and sip my morning coffee in awe. It's peaceful. It's inspiring. And it’s real.

This is where the animals roam through often stopping for a drink from the pool or nutrition pellets from alongside the house.

The Layout: Privacy Meets Togetherness

The Ratel Home is designed for both connection and solitude, making it a perfect location for a group retreat, a multi-generational getaway, or even a working wellness trip like mine.

There are four ensuite bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, offering space to rest, reflect, and restore. I’m staying in the second-floor suite, which feels like a quiet sanctuary of its own. It includes a cozy TV room and a balcony that looks out over the backyard—or, more accurately, a stretch of the wild.

The Lower Level: Designed for Delight

Downstairs, the home opens up to a veranda and a small pool, perfect for cooling off in the heat of the day. Imagine floating in the water as a zebra or kudu strolls by for a drink—because here, that’s not just possible, it’s probable.

And just beside the pool is a braai, the South African version of a BBQ—open fire, flavorful meat, and stories shared under the stars. There’s even a bar for those evenings when guests come over and want to enjoy a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a cold local beer while watching the bush come alive with sound.

The Guest Suites: Private Bungalows of Bliss

Across the driveway, two more suites are tucked away in their own charming stucco bungalows. Each of these has its own private patio, perfect for morning journaling or evening stargazing. These suites share a second small pool, giving guests the ability to relax in their own rhythm without ever feeling crowded.

What I love most is how intentional this home feels. It invites togetherness but honors the sacredness of personal space. You can gather, you can retreat, you can be as social or as serene as you need to be.

A Dreamy Setting for Retreats or Renewal

As I walked the property, I couldn’t help but dream up all the ways this space could hold transformation. It’s a place that invites deep conversation, bold ideas, healing, and laughter. A wellness retreat, a mastermind, a creative getaway—The Ratel Home can hold it all.

It’s also fully equipped with strong Wi-Fi, thoughtful touches, and the kind of architectural style that blends into its surroundings rather than competing with them. Earth tones, natural wood, spacious interiors—it’s barefoot elegance at its best.
