Departure Day: Off to South Africa
Departure Day: The Journey Begins with a Jeep and a Whole Lot of Trust
Today’s the day. ✨
After months of planning and soul-level anticipation, it's finally time to board that plane to South Africa. But this isn’t just a trip—this is a marker in my life. A bold new chapter.
In June 2024, I gave away nearly everything I owned. Furniture, home goods, things I once thought I couldn’t live without—I released them all. Not in a moment of chaos, but in a conscious, empowered choice to travel lighter, live simpler, and create more room for joy, connection, and freedom.
Now, everything I own fits in my Jeep Renegade and the stow-and-go storage unit hitched to the back. Being that I purchased a bike during my stay here in New Smyrna Beach, Florida I will have to give up my stow-and-go. That means less stuff, purging again. It's wild to think about—and honestly, it feels like a deep exhale.
I moved out of my Airbnb this morning, packed the last of my essentials, and tucked my Jeep away in a secure garage for safekeeping while I’m away. My bike—my trusty wellness sidekick—is staying with a friend. I’ll miss my regular rides (that wind-in-your-hair clarity!) but I know it’ll be waiting for me when I return.
There’s something bittersweet about leaving behind the familiar, even when you’re excited for what’s ahead. But the truth is: I’m not leaving anything behind that wasn’t ready to be released. What I’m carrying now is purpose, intention, and enough adventure to fill pages of stories.
